Indian Navy’s largest multilateral exercise Milan 2022 saw the participation of over 40 countries.

Starting with the participation of four countries, – Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand – in 1995, the exercise has since transitioned in terms of the number of participants and complexity of exercises. Earlier, the exercise was held at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar but this edition was shifted to Visakhapatnam. 

Milan 2022 was the largest edition of the exercise.

Superconductivity is a set of physical properties observed in certain materials where electrical resistance vanishes and magnetic flux fields are expelled from the material. Any material exhibiting these properties is a superconductor. Unlike an ordinary metallic conductor, whose resistance decreases gradually as its temperature is lowered even down to near absolute zero, a superconductor has a characteristic critical temperature below which the resistance drops abruptly to zero. 

In 1911, while studying the properties of matter at very low temperature, the Dutch physicist Heike Kamerlingh Onnes and his team discovered that the electrical resistance of mercury goes to zero below 4.2 K (-269°C).  This was the very first observation of the phenomenon of superconductivity.  The majority of chemical elements become superconducting at sufficiently low temperature.

Delimitation Commission:

• Delimitation is carried out by an independent Delimitation Commission.
• The Delimitation Commission is appointed by the President of India and works in collaboration with the Election Commission of India.
• The Constitution mandates that its orders are final and cannot be questioned before any court as it would hold up an election indefinitely.
• Functions: The Commission is supposed to determine the number and boundaries of constituencies in a way that the population of all seats, so far as practicable, is the same. The Commission is also tasked with identifying seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes; these are where their population is relatively large.

• Election Commission resolves the disputes relating to splits/mergers of recognized political parties.
